Persistence Is Key to Losing Weight and Keeping It Off

I'm not a fitness or health expert. Most of my blog is reporting what I do and the relatedvresults. However, at best, this is anecdotal.

Most good advice will be plain spoken: eat less but eat smart, and exercise more, and don't quit. Quitting is usually the bane of most of us. We use excuses like, "My grandmother made me eat the cake," or, "Aliens stopped my exercise program."

Read the piece below for good ideas to deal with all of this. Decide today if 2012 will be different than 2011.

Good tips. Losing weight (and keeping it off) is one of the hardest things to do. One tip I can share is that I try to eat lots of fruit and veggies before my pizza and burritos so I will fill up on the good stuff and (hopefully) not eat so much of the bad stuff. I am hoping to lose about 8 to 10 lbs. before my next marathon. According to some formula that floats out there: one extra pound of body weight = 1 extra minute in a marathon.

It is interesting to consider how weak we are. We -- on the whole -- do not press onward when it comes to fitness. Every year, the same articles are written, and every February, so many of us have quit.

Temptation and/or laziness gets the better of us.

Some survive. They thrive. They get it done, and keep it done.

My weight isn'y terrible by ordinary standards. No one would call me overweight. But one pound:one minute -- I'm in a position to gain :25 minutes from a marathon I've yet to run.

I try to drink water before I eat. Need to drink it anyway.
